This work negotiates between the idea of independence of mind with the overwhelming dependence on technology and cyber life.
I ask whether or not there is enough human desire left to still want to be part of a social group outside the digital world.
I explore what actually connects us and where human connectivity channels into, as we juggle to coexist with our cyber lives and the clutter of information overload.
I use Geometry to give structure to my thoughts.
A big concern I am looking into is how much technology is influencing me, as well as the rest of humans, in such a way that it is actually filtering how I experience life.
The binary code in each piece represents a “filter” and denotes the question or premise I begin with and also ends-up being the title of the piece.
The line drawings and colors I use come from my personal icon collection, which I have been amassing over the years. In this particular work, the color gold indicates a presence of some sort of divine origin and the clumps of line drawings express the noise that I’m aiming to let flow. The cool colors strive to keep a calming feeling.
In the end, I strive to reduce the amplitude of noise by learning to filter and let things run their course, get to the essence of what matters and ultimately find sanctuary for my thoughts and soul.
