Embers of Hope
Acrylic & ink on canvas, 30x30
AVAILABLE ON REQUEST NPY (not priced yet)
This piece was driven by the current plights of Koalas devastated, as they battle unending fires in Australia. I seek to place hope while telling about the koala's current plight. Blog post
PS. The palette was inspired by the Australian flag since koalas are native.
NOTE: Binary code (ones and zeroes) and clusters of symbols weave through her work, serving as a reminder that while technology connects us all, it also filters our experiences and keeps us away from our relationship with nature. Balancing our technology with our behaviors will be key to preserving our planet.
The clutter of symbols parallel mnemonics with amnesia; an idea inspired by a universal feeling of information overload, oftentimes resulting in memory lapse.
