Keep Out!
Acrylic & ink on canvas, 14x11 $200 Sold unframed We live in a world full of “noise”. Information overload seeps into our daily lives, often infusing chaos and influencing decisions we think we have under control. We filter stuff we hear to keep some sense of order and ultimately find sanctuary for thoughts. This piece was a reaction to recent news about endangered penguins. Acts of repetition and patterning are continuous during my creative journey. They help keep me centered and gain a sense of calm amidst current world chaos. In this piece it manifests through meticulous and purposefully drawn, symbols mixed with binary code (ones and zeroes) clustered, repetitive and tightly organized. These represent noise and chaos. Part of that noise involves how present day tech consumption filters or even replaces so much of our real life experience with the actual world because the physical world is disappearing. Putting this noise into some sense of organization is satisfying and centering, and perhaps my nostalgia for how life was before technology comes into play and is part of the reason I am so sensitive to present day life on this planet. |
