Fragments: Nature, Composition #VII
Copper, acrylic, ink, fabric, dried leaf & found objects 12x9 (Frame included) Composition #VII is part of the 10-collage Fragments series.
So many of us treasure our trees. We look forward to seeing nature in all its wonders, but many may let days and weeks go by before taking notice, overtaken by busy lives. Do you stop and take notice of a beautiful tree or any nature in your path? I titled this one “Nature”- Composition VII from my new Fragments series. Here I empathize with the loss of nature, a favorite tree and important landscape piece that becomes part of daily life. I know when I saw a city highway near my home that used to have tons and tons of beautiful trees with a whole little ecosystem going on, I literally cried when one day I just saw it all bulldozed and tossed to the side like useless scrap. The ecosystem was in the way of the highway expansion so it was just torn down. I wish more developers would consider innovating their way of thinking and strive for a more balanced coexistence. We all have a right to a livable piece of the planet because we all live here together. Having said that, I will say that since then I have had so many conversations with so many people from different walks of life who were also very affected by what they were seeing. Intense conversations like that happened infrequently so it has given me renewed hope that many DO notice nature, many actively participate in preserving and nurturing it and that is a positive thing that came out of such destruction. Collages are pieced together and inspired by human courage and resilience across the globe. So many people facing adversity are determined to pick up the pieces and move forward after experiencing loss from natural disasters. It is inspiring! This collage is signed on the front and includes a certificate of originality. |
