The idea of using knots in my work came from my desire to communicate as the Incas did more than 1000 years ago.   They created a sophisticated language device of colorful clusters of knots called “Quipu”. In Quechua (ke-choo-a), the native language of the Andes, Quipu (kee-pu) means “knot”, ”cluster of knots” or “to knot” & in their culture, it is the equivalent to writing.

Mother's day is around the corner and, well any day, I suppose, is a good day to give yourself or a friend a special and meaningful  gift!
These were inspired this week! I had a few days were I could not paint in my studio and focused exclusively and intensely on creating these special pieces which will be available at Ciel Gallery starting April 28, 2015.

Each Quipu style Neck;lace is unique and handmade. Some are non-adjustable (long & short styles available) and have titles as each piece is made to  communicate a specific thought.
